Privacy Policy

For the Ink & Word app on Android, iPad, iPhone, Windows, Mac and Linux. Last updated 23 October 2026.

In short: Ink & Word is free and non-profit. It has no accounts, no ads, no analytics and no tracking, and we never sell or share your data. Your notes, drawings and highlights stay on your device. They only leave it if you choose to use one of the few online features below, and then they go straight from your device to the service you chose, never to us.

What stays on your device

Everything you make in the app is kept on your device: notes, drawings and handwriting, highlights, bookmarks, tags, sketch pages, pictures and photos you add, reading progress and settings. The Bibles, commentaries, illustrations, maps and other study material come with the app, so reading and studying work without the internet. Read aloud uses your device's own voice.

We (the makers of Ink & Word) have no server and receive none of this. If you delete the app, it's gone from that device, unless you've synced it or saved a backup.

Online features you can choose to use

Only these features use the internet, and only when you use them:

Permissions

The app uses the internet only for the features above. On iPad and iPhone it may ask for the camera, only to take a photo for your notes. Pictures and files you pick are read only when you pick them.
